Beyond An Extract: What Exactly Is Kratom Resin?

June 11, 2021 by Phyto

Is Kratom resin simply a powerful Kratom extract, or does this substance have a lot more mystery to it? Many people are curious when they hear about Kratom resin because it is not a commonly known or marketed variation of Kratom.

Most Kratom products differ in the strain or concentration, but this substance is unlike powders, crushed leaves, and liquid extracts. In fact, it looks more like tar than it looks like a plant!

What exactly is Kratom resin, and how is it used? Learn more about this unique substance today.

Kratom And Its Many Types

Kratom comes in many different forms, and each of those forms is used differently. From the whole plant to dried leaves to ground-up powders, there are a lot of delivery methods for this unique plant substance.

The most commonly seen types of Kratom on the market are Kratom powders and whole Kratom leaves. These are frequently used to make teas or taken via capsules in order to get a daily amount of Kratom.

Extracts are typically Kratom powders with a higher-concentration alkaloid content than regular Kratom. This allows a higher dose while taking smaller amounts of the substance. While extracts are usually powdered, they also come in liquid, pill, and now, resin form.

What exactly is Kratom resin, and where does it come from?

Where Does Kratom Resin Come From?

Kratom resin is a solid Kratom extract that is made by concentrating Kratom powder into a liquid-based substance and then allowing the liquid to evaporate fully. The hard, sticky solid left behind is sometimes called candy. Kratom resin is typically dark brown or black because of how heavily concentrated it is.

Kratom resin has a high concentration of alkaloids when compared to raw Kratom powders. This high concentration is due to the boiling of Kratom and removing everything that isn’t a highly potent alkaloid concentrate. Kratom resin can be as much as 15 times stronger than other Kratom products and extracts.

Making Your Own Resin

If you’re curious about how to make Kratom resin on your own, keep in mind that these instructions are not specific. They are a general process to give you an idea of what type of work would be involved. Making your own Kratom resin can be risky because the final alkaloid content is difficult to test, so make sure that you proceed with caution.

Generally speaking, these are the steps that must be followed to make Kratom resin:

  1. 1.) Boil Kratom leaves or Kratom powder in water and allow it to steep for a long time.
  2. 2.) Filter out any plant matter or whole leaves.
  3. 3.) Boil until the tea is very thick and has little liquid left.
  4. 4.) Spread the substance out and let it dry for a few days until it hardens completely.

The resin can then be broken up into smaller pieces, and this is how most Kratom resin is processed and consumed.

How Kratom Resin Is Used

Kratom resin is a high concentration substance, so only a very small amount needs to be used for the same effects as other delivery methods. Resin is often faster to consume than other types since there is less legwork when using it.

Resin is broken into smaller pieces or crushed into a finer powder. This can then be dissolved into hot drinks, added to your normal Kratom powder, or even put into capsules for easy consumption.

When adding Kratom resin to hot drinks, many people find that adding some type of sweetener to the beverage can help. The taste is slightly different from that of standard Kratom powder, but it is still strong and bitter for most people.

Limit The Amount

Remember, it is important to always start with less Kratom than you think that you will need to ensure that you do not take too big of a serving. This is especially true with Kratom resin because the concentration can be much higher than other products.

Choosing a resin serving size for the first time is difficult and should be handled with great caution. For this reason, we typically recommend that Kratom users stick to Kratom extracts over Kratom resin.

Warning: Kratom Resin Safety

Most experts recommend that Kratom resin be used sparsely, if at all. Why is this if it’s such a highly concentrated source of alkaloids?

That is exactly why it is also not the best type of Kratom to use regularly. Super concentrated resin is not for those that are new to Kratom, and even those experienced with Kratom varieties should explore resin with caution due to its intensity.

Kratom resin causes very strong effects because the alkaloid concentration will be higher. The concentration is high but not always exact, so it can be hard to know what is inside Kratom resin. This is a big part of why you don’t see a lot of reliable, vetted Kratom vendors selling resin: it’s too risky. The Kratom extracts at Phytoextractum are lab-crafted and standardized, which means we have a much more accurate idea of their alkaloid content.

If you are going to explore resin, make sure that you do so with as much caution as possible. Remember that resin should not be a daily Kratom substitution, and it’s best used sparingly to lower risk and prevent tolerance buildup from the high concentration.

Seeking Unique Experiences

Are you an experienced Kratom user that is ready to find something unique to try? While Kratom resin is certainly one-of-a-kind, there are a lot of potential risks and difficulties that put some people off of it.

Phytoextractum carries two products that might fit the bill for your needs. First, our recently released Ultra Enhanced Indo Kratom Softgels make it easy, effective, and convenient to enjoy Kratom. Another option to consider is a super-enhanced powder extract that you can enjoy any way that you normally prepare Kratom.

Looking for new and exciting Kratom products to try is fun for experienced Kratom lovers, but you should always be mindful to be informed about what you are trying. Sourcing your products from a reliable vendor is a great place to start.

Why We Love Kratom Extracts (And You Might, Too!)

February 26, 2020 by Phyto

As you learn more about the world of kratom and the products offered by different kratom vendors, you’ll eventually come across kratom extracts. As the terminology for products can be confusing at times, you might not initially understand what kratom extracts are or why so many people love them.

In fact, you might be shocked that people gravitate towards something that is, on average, five times more concentrated than traditional kratom.

What is it about kratom extracts that make them so popular? Are kratom extracts going to be a good fit for your life? As one of the original suppliers of high quality extracts, we have a few things to say on the matter. Let’s take a closer look and find out together.

What Are Kratom Extracts?

Before we get into the specific reasons that many kratom users find extracts appealing, let’s clarify exactly what kratom extracts are.

Kratoms extracts are a type of product made from kratom plant leaves or powder. They are a more concentrated form of the powder, and they tend to contain some of the highest levels of alkaloids when comparing different kratom products.

Extracts are made by soaking the plant matter in a solvent such as water, CO2, or ethanol, and then the solvent is dehydrated. This concentrated material can then be mixed with a base power for a higher concentration or used on its own.

Extracts are available as both powders and liquids as well as in different strains and concentrations depending on what vendor you buy from.

Kratom Extracts Are Concentrated

One reason that some people gravitate towards using kratom extracts rather than traditional teas or powders is that they have a higher concentration of alkaloids. This means that generally speaking, you would try a smaller serving of kratom extract than you would of standard kratom powder.

Has kratom ever made you feel nauseous? Have you ever gotten annoyed by the amount of tea that you needed to make to take your usual serving size?

If so, kratom extracts might be just what you need to make your life a little bit more simple. Kratom extracts can often be taken in smaller serving sizes with the same effects.

You will need to do a little bit of trial-and-error to get the amount right as there is no way to directly correlate extracts with other substances, but the overall consensus is that extracts are used in smaller quantities.

Make sure that you take your first serving much smaller than is recommended or than you usually take; the amount can always be increased over time.

Extracts Help Rotation

Did you know that regularly rotating your serving size and which strains of kratom you are taking can help to prevent any sort of tolerance from building up to the alkaloids in kratom? The best way to use kratom long-term is to rotate between different options, and adding extracts into the mix makes this easy.

Replace your usual kratom with a smaller serving of an extract for a week or two and then switch back; by changing up the amounts you take, your body will not be able to create a steady reliance on either.

Extracts Could Save You Money

There is a chance that switching to kratom extracts rather than using standard kratom powders could save you some money, but the only way to be sure about this is to do some math!

Kratom extracts are generally more expensive than standard powders. Extracts have a longer manufacturing process and use more raw material to be created, so this difference in price makes sense. The final product, too, is different.

Depending on how much less kratom extract you use in comparison to kratom powder, it might be more affordable for you to buy extracts. If you’re using substantially less product, switching to the more expensive product could still be cost-effective.

Extracts Variety

While kratom powders are already available in a wide variety of strains and colors, extracts mix up the type of variety by being available in different concentrations as well. For some strains, you might be able to try a 3x, 5x, or 10x concentration of the product depending on the level of concentration that was achieved.

As you explore different products in the world of kratom to find out what works best for your mind and body, having all of these different products available is very helpful. There are more options to consider, and you won’t have to settle for something that is just OK.

Instead, consider the wide variety of options available, and discover which serving might be right for you.

Liquid Extracts Change Everything

As mentioned, kratom extracts are available both as powders and liquids. Liquids are one of the coolest kratom creations ever, and they’re so convenient to use that you might be shocked. You should expect these liquids to be concentrated.

Liquid extracts can be added into any beverage with ease:

  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Smoothies
  • Juice

Or, you can choose to just take the liquid directly from the dropper! The convenience of a liquid kratom product is not hard to miss considering that adding the liquid to a tastier treat can even help to mask the sometimes off-putting flavor of kratom.

Another convenient on-the-go option available for kratom are capsules. Capsules can be made from different strength kratom extract powders, and they can be taken like any other kratom capsule. You could even try making your own capsules at home to save money rather than ordering pre-made options!

Conclusion

Remember that kratom extracts are just one way that you could try kratom; don’t feel like these are the only option! Extracts are a highly-concentrated form of kratom powder that is ideal for experienced kratom users or those that want to be able to take smaller serving sizes.

That does not mean that these concentrated powders and liquids will be a good fit for everyone!

If you find that extracts are too much for you or your stomach, don’t worry. You don’t have an obligation to love extracts even if there are lots of great products in our catalog for you to choose from. Shop around more traditional kratom products instead, and you’re sure to find a good fit for you.

4 Best Ways to Take Kratom: Which Do You Prefer?

April 25, 2019 by Phyto

Kratom, officially known as Mitragyna speciosa, is a very special plant extract. It’s a tropical tree that can be taken in many forms, and those forms have been used by societies where Kratom is native for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Before you buy kratom online, it’s important to know the best way to take it though. In this article, we’ll discuss the 4 most common.

From teas to powders to capsules, Kratom users around the world are mixing up how they will take their Kratom every single day! And really, there are a lot of different products and methods that they can choose from.

When you’re new to Kratom, you might not know how which method you want to try or what the difference between those types of Kratom really is. How can you know without spending months trying them all?

We’ll introduce all the pros and cons to you today so that you can make that choice for yourself!

Teas

One of the most common ways for people to take Kratom is by making it into a tea. You can use both loose leaf and powder to make tea, but you’ll need to spend a good bit of time figuring out the exact brew that you like and will enjoy drinking.

When buying loose leaf Kratom, it’s often known as crushed leaf.

Most people find that taking tea is the most effective way to enjoy Kratom. The basics of making tea are simple. All that you need to do is allow them to steep in boiling water for about 20 minutes before straining, but this isn’t the only way to make Kratom tea! In time, you’ll learn many methods.

There are a lot of different things that you can add to tea, but the most common ones that people find to improve the general flavor of Kratom tea are:

  • • Fruits (particularly citrus fruits)
  • • Honey
  • • Sweeteners
  • • Juice (lemon, orange, and pineapple are all great choices)

Regardless of what people recommend that you add to your tea, don’t be afraid to experiment! Only you can decide what flavors you like, and the only way that you’ll find the perfect combination is to change it up every single time that you make a batch of tea until you get it right.

Pros of Kratom Tea

  • • Easier on your stomach than other preparations
  • • Can add your own ingredients to change the taste
  • • Can be batch prepared in advance

Cons of Kratom Tea

  • • Takes time to prepare
  • • Can be very bitter
  • • Will need to try various adjustments to get the flavor right

Kratom Powder

The other most popular way to take Kratom is to use Kratom powder. Powder can be used as an additive to other drinks or smoothies, or it can be used more directly if taken by using capsules instead.

Because of how convenient taking powder Kratom is, this is quickly becoming the most popular form. It’s simple to buy in bulk, can be taken discreetly, and doesn’t require an acquired taste like tea does!

Some of our favorite ways to combine Kratom powder are into yogurt, smoothies, drinks, dressings, and more!

Kratom Powder Pros

  • • Tends to be more affordable
  • • Easier to buy and store in bulk
  • • Versatile
  • • Can be put into capsules for easy digestion & storage

Kratom Powder Cons

  • • Can cause upset stomachs due to increased amount of plant matter
  • • Powders can be messy
  • • Can be harder to measure unless using capsules

Kratom Capsules & Tablets

If you are looking for a very easy and discreet way to take Kratom, you might want to try Kratom tablets or capsules.

Kratom tablets are made when high-pressure machinery creates a tablet by simply squeezing the powder together as hard as possible. They stay together without any binding agents as long as the proper machinery is used to make the tablets. Plus, you don’t have to make them yourself as you might need to do with powder capsules!

Kratom gum is also available. You should keep in mind that gum will likely have binding additives, so you should decide if you are okay with that or not.

Tablet Pros

  • • Very discreet
  • • Easy to carry around with you as needed
  • • Easy to measure

Tablet Cons

  • • Might contain additives
  • • Might contain chemicals
  • • Might contain added flavors

Kratom Extracts

Like CBD extracts, it is possible to create a pure extract from Kratom plants. These Kratom extracts have been used for many years in some areas of the world and can be a great way to take a concentrated amount of Kratom.

The extracts are often called full spectrum kratom because as many alkaloids as possible are pulled from the plants. If you want an easy intake method, full spectrum Kratom extract is a great way to do just that.

The extraction method usually goes something like this:

  • • Ethanol, water, or CO2 solvents are used to soak the plant and begin the extraction method. Usually, this involves a certain amount of soaking and heating as well.
  • • The plant’s alkaloids are pulled out of the plants.
  • • The alkaloids solvents are blended with the base extraction, and other natural flavors may be added as well.

If you want to avoid taking any type of extraction that includes alcohol, you can always check in with us about which extracts do and do not contain alcohol!

Extract Pros

  • • Very easy to take
  • • Can be dissolved into other liquids
  • • Typically contain more alkaloids
  • • Need to take less product to be effective due to higher concentration

Extract Cons

  • • Missing balanced plant extract; contains most alkaloids
  • • Can upset some people’s stomachs

Kratom: The Choice is Yours

There’s not a single way that you have to take Kratom. Powders can be mixed into smoothies, or teas can be brewed with honey and lemon flavors to make a tasty concoction that you can enjoy when needed. Or, you can simply take a capsule or tablet to get a direct serving of Kratom powder.

The point is that there are no specific rules about how you have to take Kratom. You can try these different ways; you might even find that you enjoy more than one ingestion method! In the end, the choice is yours.
