Red Vein Maeng Da is native to Thailand and is now grown in Indonesia, where it is picked and processed by local farmers, then ground into a fine powder. Maeng Da loosely translates to "pimp's grade," and it gained this nickname due to the high-quality leaves which are rich with alkaloids.
Red Maeng Da is known for containing over 28 alkaloids and a higher concentration of 7-hydroxymitragynine due to outdoor, more extended length drying, which gives it the red vein color.
In the traditional way to categorize kratom, the color refers to the vein on the leaf and indicates how mature the leaves are at the time of harvest. Red is known for having the most time to mature, while white has the shortest time, and green is in the middle. The secondary name is the region in which the product was grown or where that strain originated from. Some names you’ll probably recognize are Sumatra, Bali and Borneo.
