Maeng Da is native to Thailand and is now grown in Indonesia, where it is picked and processed by local farmers, then ground into a fine powder. Maeng Da loosely translates to "pimp's grade," and it gained this nickname due to the high-quality leaves which are rich with alkaloids. Maeng Da is known for containing an abundance of alkaloids, but lower 7-hydroxymitragynine. This is due to an only indoor, low light, and extended drying length, which gives it the white vein color.
