Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a mushroom that grows, over a long period of time, in cold environments around the world. Though it grows naturally in the northernmost parts of the United States, it is relatively uncommon in its use as a healing plant. In Europe, however, it has been used as a folk medicine for many years. Research shows that, in reality (and like many fungi), Chaga is not a medicine as much as it is a preventative measure - the unique properties of Chaga make it ideal when used as a general supplement to a healthy lifestyle, as it supports the body and fends off disease.
