DESCRIPTION

Leonotis leonurus (Wild Dagga, Lion's Tail) Flower Petals

Also known as Wild Dagga or Lion's Tail, Leonotis Leonurus is a robust shrub which grows up to 2-3 meters tall and 1.5m wide. It is commonly widespread throughout South Africa (Eastern and Western Cape Provinces, Kwazulu-Natal and Mpumalanga) and found amongst the rocks in grasslands.

The active component in Wild Dagga is leonurine, the same alkaloid that can be found in Leonurus sibiricus, and is most concentrated in the flower of the plant.
